Scott Kaplan

Chief Financial Officer

Scott is Chief Financial Officer of Great Plains Data. He brings over 30 years of financial and operational leadership experience to our team, including over 20 years in the Investment Banking business in New York and Los Angeles, and over 15 years working in/with entrepreneurial, early-stage companies. Scott has experience as an Investment Banker, Founder, CFO, COO, Board Member and Advisory Board Member with companies in a variety of industries including financial services, clean energy, automotive, technology and health & wellness.

Since 2018 Scott has worked closely with Steve Lebow on venture financings and launching start-up companies. In 2019, Steve led a group of prominent investors in an equity investment in The NorCal Luxury Car Group, a super luxury automotive dealership group in Northern California, which was formed through the strategic acquisitions of Los Gatos Luxury Cars, Walnut Creek Luxury Cars, and McLaren/Volvo Cars Palo Alto. Scott is a Board Observer of the NorCal Luxury Car Group. In 2025, Steve led a group of prominent investors in the initial financing of AutoTrust Solutions, an automotive dealer cooperative. Scott is an Advisory Board Member of AutoTrust Solutions. Scott has served/is serving as CFO of start-up companies founded by Steve Lebow and other individuals, including an automotive technology company, an energy development company, and Great Plains Data.

Previously, Scott was a Co-Founder, COO, CFO and Board Member of Sagent Advisors, a New York City based investment banking firm, for over a decade from 2003 – 2014. At Sagent, Scott led all financial and operational matters for the firm from its founding through its growth to over 125 employees in 5 US cities, with alliances in Europe, South America and Asia. Sagent (DCS Advisory) was acquired by Daiwa Capital Markets of Japan in 2017.

Earlier in his career, Scott was CFO of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette’s Los Angeles business, where he worked with Steve Lebow and Ken Moelis to build DLJ-LA into the largest investment bank outside of New York City, with over 150 investment bankers, prior to its sale to Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000.

Scott has been an investment banker at UBS (where he worked on mergers, acquisitions and public and private capital raising transactions), a member of the investment banking management teams at UBS and Credit Suisse, and COO of KB Financial Partners (a wealth management registered investment advisor).

Scott is also currently an Advisory Board Member at MIDAS Healthcare Solutions (healthcare technology company) and the GUIDE App (mental wellness company) and, a Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board at ROAMFurther Athletics (fitness and lifestyle company.

Scott holds a BS from Pepperdine University and a MBA from the University of California Los Angeles.
