Kenneth J. Moreano’s career spans over 30 years beginning in 1998 when he founded a healthcare startup. In 2002, Ken was hired by Walter Scott, Jr. as the first Executive Director for the Scott Technology Center. Moreano’s leadership transformed the 60,000 square foot vacant core and shell facility into a thriving 140,000 square foot hub for technology startups, academic labs, government agencies, and industry tenants.

Ken cofounded the 50,000 square foot Scott Data Center in 2004 and successfully contracted the Department of Defense as the first customer. Moreano’s efforts in the design, development, and construction of the data center, as well as his role as the business model developer, primary contract negotiator, and operational lead, were instrumental in the facility’s success. In 2008, Moreano expanded the data center by adding 30,000 square feet of colocation and private data center suites, catering to the growing demand for privacy, security, and reliability.

In 2011 the Department of Defense relocated, and Ken conducted extensive customer discovery resulting in the repurposing of the original 50,000 square foot area as well as an addition of a 20-MegaWatt central energy plant positioning the data center as a cutting-edge colocation facility with high power and cooling density capabilities. In 2020, Moreano founded Scott Managed Services to provide a full suite of technology services for the data center’s colocation customers. Moreano initiated the development of a private, secure and local AI service offering in May 2023 while successfully establishing partnerships with industry leaders such as NVIDIA, World Wide Technology, and VAST Data. Moreano has been at the forefront of the AI revolution, leading the development and deployment of four generations of AI offerings. His deep customer discovery and market validation have positioned him as a trusted expert in the integration of AI and data center technologies. Moreano’s expertise in data centers and artificial intelligence has been widely recognized and boasts a 100% uptime during the history of Scott Data Center.
